PCM: Process Communication Model

Communication

PCM: Process Communication Model

A certified model for reading personality in real time. According to PCM, the process of communication (how we say something) is the differentiating factor in whether what we say lands at all.

The business challenge

Why organizations ask for this.

Miscommunication is rarely about content. It is about channel: the same message delivered in the wrong style is heard as criticism, indifference or noise. Under stress, each personality type has a predictable distress pattern, and predictable is manageable.

Approach & methodology

How the programme actually runs.

4–6 × 3 h sessions or 2 days + 1 follow-up · Certified PCM · includes an individual PCM profile

  1. Prework

Weekly tasks on PROMOTE to prepare for learning and change.

  2. The six types

PCM describes six personality types, each perceiving the world differently and each with its own communication process. Recognising them in yourself and in others.

  3. Channels and needs

How each type prefers to be addressed, the psychological needs they have in conversation, and the motivation that actually works for them.

  4. Distress and recovery

What stresses each type, the emotions they use to protect the real ones, and how to invite someone out of distress rather than deeper into it.

  5. Application

Applying PCM to your real one-to-ones, team meetings and customer conversations.

  6. Follow-up

    One 1.5-hour online session.

Kirkpatrick levels one to four: reaction, knowledge, self-assessed behaviour, and the participant's manager assessing the same competencies. We agree the target behaviours with the sponsor before design starts.

Digital missions and buddy work on PROMOTE, with the participant's own manager involved. This is the difference between 15–20% and 60–80% transfer into practice.
